Central Nebraska Public Power & Irrigation District (Central) generates electricity for homes, farms and industry at four hydroplants. Central delivers irrigation water to more than 113,000 acres on the south side of the Platte River between North Platte and Minden, we also provide supplemental water from Lake McConaughy to irrigation project serving more than 110,000 acres along the North Platte and Platte Rivers. The Civil Operations Supervisor will ensure existing water storage, conveyance and related facilities remain in excellent operating condition

The successful candidate will have a background in construction management and be able to utilize leadership and management skills to coordinate the civil maintenance crew. Job Duties and Responsibilities

Strategically oversee the maintenance and improvement of the District’s dams including Kingsley Dam, bridges and water conveyance structures.
Manage daily operations of the civil maintenance crew.
Responsible for compliance for all required environmental laws, permit and statutory obligations, including, but not limited to those of the Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Central Land and Shoreline management program.
Develop specifications for the maintenance, improvement or capital addition of the District’s hydraulic structures.
Prepare annual operational budget. Analyze and control expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
Work with the Hydroelectric Operations Supervisor to ensure safety requirements are being met for reliable operation of Kingsley Dam, the Supply Canal and hydro generation systems.
Actively engage in quality assurance and continuous performance improvement activities.
Assist in planning and supervising civil and structural maintenance and capital improvement needs at the Kingsley and Gothenburg offices and the hydroelectric facilities.
Provide personnel training required for compliance and necessary for job functions.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Structural or Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent construction management experience required.
At least 4 years of supervisory experience.
Four years of experience preferred in maintenance, engineering and construction of bridges or earthen and concrete structures related to water conveyance systems.
Maintain a valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance.

Experience

Working knowledge of federal, state and applicable environmental regulations and requirements.
